Dr. Jimmy Azarnoosh is a faculty member in the Biocomputational Engineering (BCE) program within the Fischell Department of Bioengineering. His expertise includes medical image processing, machine learning, and computational modeling and simulation in bioengineering. His image processing expertise involves biomedical image analysis, segmentation, and quantitative extraction of anatomical and physiological information, while his machine learning expertise includes pattern recognition, prediction, classification, and analysis of complex biomedical data. He also has expertise in numerical simulations, including CFD, FEA, and FSI.

Before joining the University of Maryland, Dr. Azarnoosh worked as a Research Engineer at Northeast Georgia Health System. He completed his postdoctoral training in biomedical engineering through the Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD).
