Kasra Sardashti joined the University of Maryland in 2024 as an Assistant Professor of Physics and a Research Lead at the LPS Qubit Collaboratory (LQC). Before UMD, Kasra was an Assistant Professor of Physics & ECE at Clemson University. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from UC San Diego in 2016. Afterward, he was a Research Scientist at the Center for Quantum Phenomena at New York University.

Kasra is the founding executive director of the Quantum Collaborative Research Corps (QCoR), a UMD-based research center dedicated to advancing quantum information science and technology. Embedded within the Laboratory for Physical Sciences Qubit Collaboratory (LQC), QCoR brings together scientists, engineers, and technical professionals to conduct basic research spanning novel materials, quantum devices, qubit architectures, and small-scale quantum processors. Through close collaboration with our diverse group of partners, QCoR cultivates impactful basic quantum research while fostering a vibrant environment for innovation and workforce development.
