Background

Dr. Donghun Park obtained his PhD from the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) in 2008. He is a currently a faculty member in the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UMCP and working at the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS), a university/government joint research institute to advance the physics and engineering behing information science and technology. He has more than 25 years of experience in RF photonics and integrated optics. He has designed and fabricated antenna-integrated radio-over-fiber (ROF) phase modulators; micro-strip line-loaded high speed EO phase modulators; designed multilayered perfect absorbers for energy harvest; designed free space optics: ellipsometry, attenuated total reflection, reflectometry, interferometry; developed the rigorous ellipsometric analysis and experimental instrument; built cryogenic attenuated total reflection and interferometry equipment; built Maker fringe instrument for second order tensor characterization; designed and fabricated integrated RF transmission lines and ROF optical communications; built and tested phase-modulated fiber optic links. He worked at a telecommunication startup company Telinker Inc. founded in 2000, where he developed a VoIP gatekeeper server and voice recognition system. He is now a chief engineering officer (CEngO) and co-founder of 3DFlexible. Inc., where he develops post-processors for intelligent 3D hybrid printed electronics. He has more than 50 publications and has received six SBIR/STTR and government funded project awards, totaling ~$3.5M with his colleagues. He is also teaching a RF/antenna class at UMCP and the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland (USMSM) for students mostly from Naval Air Station Patuxent River (NAS Patuxent).
