Kristen Byers is the Digital Content Strategist for the A. James Clark School of Engineering. She works with communicators from the school’s various departments and units to map out and execute a content strategy that meets the Clark School’s strategic communications goals. Kristen believes that knowing your audience is the first and most important step in reaching them.
Kristen previously worked at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and Columbia University’s Department of Epidemiology, where she led multiple web redesigns and taught colleagues about web and content strategy best practices. Kristen now pursues, develops, manages, and evaluates content and storytelling projects that communicate the story of the Clark School to engage multiple audiences on multiple platforms in measurable ways.
Kristen is a trained web professional who taught herself HTML and CSS at age 9. She has never hesitated to embrace new tools and technologies.
Kristen holds a B.A. in Professional Writing from Michigan State University and an M.S. in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Maryland, College Park.
